Transcranial Doppler (TCD) is a non-invasive, painless ultrasound technique used to measure the velocity and direction of blood flow through major intracranial cerebral arteries.

Clinical Applications:

• Cerebrovascular Vasospasm Monitoring: Serial monitoring in subarachnoid hemorrhage to detect arterial narrowing early.
• Intracranial Stenosis Assessment: Diagnostic evaluation of focal cerebral artery narrowing in stroke patients.
• Microembolic Signal (MES) Detection: Real-time detection of circulating emboli originating from carotid arteries or cardiac sources.
• Right-to-Left Shunt Screening: Bubble contrast TCD screening for patent foramen ovale (PFO) in cryptogenic stroke.
